About the game

The Backrooms turns an internet story into a walking game: endless yellow rooms, buzzing lights, damp carpet, and the growing certainty that you are not the only thing in here.

There is very little to fight and a lot to walk through.

How to play

• WASD to walk, mouse to look.
• Shift to run — you will need it.
• Find the exit. There is no map.

Tips

• Pick a wall and follow it; wandering the middle of rooms gets you lost fastest.
• Sound cues arrive before anything is visible.
• Running is loud. Save it for when something is already behind you.
